About the surgery
There are no set treatment guidelines for this type of cancer because it is so rare.
Surgery is, however, the preferred treatment for non-metastatic urachal cancer. This means the urachus, belly button, and nearby tissue, along with part of or the entire bladder, are removed. This is often done in one surgical procedure.
If possible, doctors prefer to remove just part of the bladder to help you lead a better quality of life.
This chapter provides general information about surgery for urachal cancer. It is not a replacement for professional medical advice or treatment. Always consult your doctor or healthcare provider for guidance on your individual medical situation.
