Hormonal treatment for cryptorchidism

Hormonal treatment uses medicines that help stimulate the hormones involved in testicle development and descent. However, it is not the usual first treatment for most boys with an undescended testicle, because it does not always work.

How it works

Hormonal treatment aims to encourage the undescended testicle to move down into the scrotum. It may be considered in some situations, such as when both testicles have not descended, or in selected cases before surgery. Your doctor will discuss whether this treatment is suitable for your child.
